As per the class discussion, please provide me with three different headlines for the story (article in Question #4) and outline your reasoning(s) and explanation for each. Please ensure you base your answer on the different elements of headlines we spoke about in class. Please go into detail for each. (12 Marks) 

Hailey Bieber’s Sister Arrested for Throwing Tampon at Bar Staff 

This headline carries the same shock factor as the original but includes the detail of Alaia throwing a tampon at the bar staff. This will help intrigue more readers to click on the article to read the full story. Although the original headline mentions the arrest, including the tampon part makes it more intriguing to read and provides a surprising detail about the arrest which can further prompt someone to read the full article. This headline also eliminates the use of Alaia’s name because saying “Hailey Bieber’s sister” is already interesting enough and shortens the word count. Mentioning Hailey Bieber’s name draws attention from her fans or anyone interested in pop culture. 

Hailey Bieber’s Sister in Custody for Assault Allegations 

This headline is informative. It presents the situation in a serious and direct manner which prompts readers to click on the article. The use of the word “allegations” makes it sound like there’s more to the story and further prompts a reader to click on the article to find out what happened. This headline provides the essential information about the article without giving away too many details. This headline also eliminates the use of Alaia’s name to shorten the word count and because Hailey Bieber’s name is identifiable enough. 

Arrested for Assault: Hailey Bieber’s Sister Throws Tampon at Bar Staff 

This headline combines the shock factor of the first headline and the seriousness of the second. It mentions the surprising act of throwing a tampon which will pique a reader’s curiosity because you don’t often read something like that. Mentioning “arrested for assault” also implies the seriousness of what happened which will encourage a reader to read more about what actually happened. This headline immediately grabs a reader’s attention and prompts them to learn more about the story. As well, this headline doesn’t include Alaia’s name because Hailey Bieber’s name is recognizable enough and it reduces the word count.
